Paint Wars

The Theta Gamma Delts are introducing a new philanthropy this semester that will benefit JDRF, the leading global Type 1 Diabetes research foundation. This philanthropy is a week-long event (April 10 - 15) consisting of five individual events:
Instagram Competition, Suicide Penny Wars, Percentage Night (Chipotle), Dessert Night (Pizookies), and the main event, Paint Wars

Instagram Competition

This event will start on Monday, April 10th and run until midnight on Friday, April 14th.
The top 3 teams with the most likes on their picture on Friday, ​April 14th will receive points.
​First, second, and third place will receive 150 points, 100 points, and 50 points respectively.

Suicide Penny Wars

On Monday and Tuesday there will be regular Penny Wars outside of Memorial Union. 
Wednesday, April 12th, is when Suicide Penny Wars begins! The team(s) in last place at the end of both Wednesday and Thursday night will be eliminated from the Penny Wars competition​.
The goal here is to mix things up from the penny wars that other philanthropies typically do, and encourage competition throughout the whole week and not just for the last day! 
Losing in the Penny Wars does not eliminate you from participating in the rest of the philanthropy event.

Percentage Night

Raising Cane's will be donating a percentage of their sales to Paint Wars for each purchase made by any participating organization.
​In this event, scoring is based on the percentage of chapter attendance.
​First, second, and third place will receive 150 points, 120 points, and 100 points respectively.

​Dessert Night

The Delts will be serving pizookies to Paint Wars participants on Friday, April 14th at Adelphi Commons.
Like percentage night, scoring during this event is based on the percentage of chapter attendance.

Paint Wars

Saturday, April 15th is the main day of the philanthropy event. Paint Wars includes a few events: 
  • 10:00 AM - Primary Event: Dodgeball (with paint balloons)
    • Each match will pit teams of 8 girls against each other.
    • Each team will have a large bucket of roughly 40 paint balloons per match.
    • Exit the playing field if you are hit by an opponent
    • Best 2 out of 3!
    • The first team of 8: $150
    • Additional Teams: $50
  • Delt Toss
    • Each team will pick any 2 girls from one of their Paint Wars teams to participate in Delt Toss.
      ​The girls will start out close to each other and one will toss it to the other and then she will toss it back.
    • If the balloon is still intact, one of the girls will move to the next distance and repeat.
    • Each team will get 2 paint balloons to work with. If the first one breaks you can continue at the same place you left off using the second balloon.
    • Once both balloons have broken you will report your furthest distance.
    • Tie breakers will be settled with a sudden death round.
  • Pelt-a-Delt
    • $2 for 3 balloons
    • This will be the last event for the competition day of the philanthropy.
    • The purpose of Pelt-a-Delt is mainly to raise money to support JDRF and to let girls throw paint balloons
      at Delts of their choosing ☺︎
